Traumatic amputations happen when an accident causes the immediate loss of limbs or extremities.Fragments or cuted parts can sometimes climb(join the body in the cuted place) (replantation).
Replantations success depends largely on the mode of giving first aid.
Mode of action-You must stop the bleeding.Bonding method is not appropriate to use, if we intend to do replantation.However we should use this method if other methods aren't showing succes. Some wounds caused from amputationes do not bleed immediately, but slightly later . Therefore, the wounded person should be always under supervision.
-Protection of the wound with bandage must be doing during the imobilisation of the plce of injurie in the body.
-You must undertake measures to soften the shock.
-If a separate part of the body is not damaged, as seen between the bones should be placed ice.Ice should not be cleaned , nor be placed on a refrigerator, because low temperatures would damage the appropriate tissue.Best temperature is from 0 C to +4 C.
Wound in the disconnected limb should be protected with bandage.All limb should be placed in a plastic sac(sleeve).
Sign the time when injury was caused.EXAMPLE:The mode of action in case of cutting the thumb:
1. Wrap the finger in sterile gauze,
2.Put the wrapped finger in a plastik suc(sleeve) and close the gorge,
3.Insert the sleeve in a dish(container) and fill with water and pieces of ice.
As soon as the wounded person with ampututed limb will be sent to relevant specialized hospital for these interventions, the chances of success for replantation are greater.
In optimal conditions, which depends on the provision of first aid,finger can be replanted after nearly 20 hours. For other parts of the body,time is approximately 6 hours.
